Knokke-Heist, Hazegrassluis.
AOK 15, KVA 2, KV.Gr. Knokke, Abschnit Ost, Stp. Heinrich / Fort Hazegras.
Between Knokke-Heist and the Dutch border at the Retranchementsstraat and the Burkeldijk the Hazegrassluis or Fort Hazegras lies in the open landscape . This location started in WO1 as part of the so called "Holland-stellung". A defence line against Holland, because Holland was neutral.
During WW2 the location was re used again by the Germans. They added several bunkers and emplacements to the site. So when you walk around have a good look witch bunkers are from what period. In some of the WW1 bunkers we found text that looked German and English. They mention the storage of ammunition for a certain gun type that was used in WW1 and WW2 by Germans, English and French troops.
The objects are located over several pieces of land with different owners, so make sure you have permission of the correct owner to enter his or her premises.
